Pavylyn Boutique – It’s like shopping in a celebrity closet!

Celebrity Fashion has always been an obsession of mine. UsWeekly, Flare, Fashion, and InStyle mags are littered around my condo and overflowing from my Zinio on my ipad! OBSESSION ALERT!

Thankfully in comes Pavlyn Boutique a wonderful celebrity inspired online shop for Canadian fashion girls to get all the Hollywood looks they want! Anna and Maria, the lovely ladies behind this new online celebrity style shop, have created a boutique where you can shop from your favourite style icon’s closet!

After a few quick browses on the Pavlyn Boutique site, it was clear that Anna and Maria have a sharp eye on curating Hollywood looks with affordable celebrity brands. Finally! A site that is dedicated to star style that ships to Canada. YAY!

And lucky for me, I met with Anna and Maria at the lovely Jules cafe and chatted fashion and business.

Q: Let’s start from the very beginning! There are lots of fashion ecommerce sites that have emerged these past few years, and celebrity style definitely a great niche that has not be fulfilled in Canada. What inspired you to start this venture?

Maria: We both have a corporate background, but we learned that our true passion was for shopping, traveling, and curating unique and special pieces.
Anna: We were interested in finding boutiques and brands from other cities. We both traveled a lot and we always wanted to look for new and different brands. Some of our favourite places to shop were New York and Paris!

M: Noticing that a lot of the items we were searching for wasn’t available in Toronto or in Canada was frustrating.

Q: I totally agree. Sometimes there just isn’t as much selection here. How about the celebrity angle? What inspired that?
M: Anna and I have a very similar sense of style, we like similar items, and often love lots of the same looks.
A: So when it comes to celebrity, we know that it is something that we can use that as a way to represent personal style in a larger scale. Making it relatable and showcasing looks that we really love. We want to bring brands that are affordable for people to wear, but has also been worn by your favourite style icon.

Q: Absolutely. The name Pavlyn is also a very beautiful name. Can you tell me about the meaning of it?
M: Yes, Pavlyn is Russian for peacock. We found it very relevant to the celebrity aspect.

Q: So clever, and as a segway, I also noticed that your first collection online is also very clevery assembled with lots of consideration to affordable price points and the celebrities featured.
A: Yes, we definitely based the celebrities featured on our personal style. We collect issues of fashion magazines and mark things we like off that we see. We like to track down items we like and then take it from there.
M: We also selected price points that were affordable brands that celebrities wear, making the range more accessible, bringing brands to regular girls! We wanted to bring new brands into the Canadian market as well.

Q: What do you search for when you’re selecting a brand to feature?
M: Quality is very important to us. We try on all the clothes we buy. We want to find things that have a great fit and that are flattering on most body types. We also look for the next fashion trends. We look for the newest thing.
A: We look for brands that celebrities love that we can bring into our fold. And while we like trendy, we also want to find quality and long term investment pieces to include too.

Q: You have some really beautiful items in your boutique this season. What are some of your favourites?
A&M: The Contrarian Dress

Q: Agreed, it’s a stunning dress.
A&M: We also love the Papercrown Bora Bora gown.

Q: It is totally stunning. Lauren Conrad’s Papercrown line is surprisingly classic and high quality. Anyway, are there any additional brands that you feature in your shop that you would like to mention?
A: Absolutely. There is a wonderful brand that we carry called Love Quotes which is a truly inspirational brand. The designer Phyllis Wiener donates 10% of net profits goes to different children’s charities. It is very heart-warming. It is really special to us that we carry her line of scarves.

Q: That’s a really beautiful message! And you can see that in her work. The scarves are really nice. In addition to these big brands you have on your site, are there new brands you’d love to expand and include?
A&M: Alice and Olivia…and much much more!
