High Tea Heaven: A Tracy Cakes Review

There’s no girlier way to celebrate a special occasion than to get dressed up and munch on dainty sandwiches and pretty little desserts at high tea. While I have been to several high tea rooms in Vancouver, I must say that my favourite experience thus far has been at Tracy Cakes. This local chain of bakery cafes provides a unique and delightful atmosphere for each and every one of its valued customers. As the location I visited was tucked away within picturesque Langley, I felt like I was enjoying a much-needed break from the hectic pace of city life when we visited this delightful little house cafe.

Immediately upon stepping into the bakery cafe, I felt like I had entered into a secret world full of Pinterest-worthy vintage decor, delicious treats, and luxurious blends of tea. I was also impressed by the friendliness of the staff; I felt that they made an extra effort to engage their guests in conversation and ensure that everyone felt welcome.

My lovely date, who has patronized this establishment numerous times before, was the perfect individual with which to enjoy a long and fun chat in this peaceful haven.

From an extensive list of teas available, I ordered a popular black tea known as “African Nectar”; the sweet notes of this blend were perfectly complimented by a touch of tanginess.

Other than the tea, the most important part of a high tea experience is the food! We were treated to some cucumber, egg salad, and ham sandwiches that were sliced into bite-friendly sizes. As well, we gobbled up such lovely treats as shortbread cookies, fudge mini-cupcakes, scones,  quiche, and wraps. I greatly enjoyed the range of sweet and savoury items as I feel that some high tea places place a much greater emphasis on the sweet.

Overall, I was entirely satisfied by my time at Tracy Cakes; the high tea date was made even more spectacular when we were able take advantage of a two-for-one promotion. As a result, we paid only $25 for the both of us!
