  1. Hey Vijaya! Give us the low down on what you’re all about
  2. Television has always been a huge part of my life growing up. I was one of those kids that would watch shows like The Polkadot Door, and wonder how kids like me made it onto the television screen. When I look back on those moments, I realize that I had found my passion in its infancy.

I am your everyday girl who loves going to the mall to scope out a bargain, visiting my local bubble tea stand to get my tapioca on, and listening to new and emerging bands. I also love food, so you can find me in the kitchen creating some kind of mess/magic. I usually let my guinea pigs be the judge of that.

  3. In theme of Dorito’s Collisions, which do you think is better – Hot or Cool? Or Both?
  4. Choosing between hot and cool is like choosing between your parents. It’s impossible!

Hot Habanero has a searing heat that lingers, creeps up on you, and then hits the back of your throat. Guacamole counteracts the heat of the habanero and cools the palate with the flavours of avocado, lime, and coriander. Yummy!

  5. What’s been your favourite MuchMusic TV moment / program in watching it when growing up? I have to admit to loving Tree Toss and Fromage at the end of each year. Where’s Ed the Sock?!

  6. All my favourite moments on MuchMusic have included fans meeting their favourite artists. There’s nothing like seeing the reaction on someone’s face when their idol walks through the door. It’s absolutely priceless. I remember when one fan got to meet Destiny’s Child. She flipped her lid when Beyonce, Kelly, and Michelle walked into the room to greet her. She was even more baffled when she realized Beyonce loved fried chicken just as much as she did!

  7. It’s the obligatory fashion blog fashion question – what’s a style find for you?
  8. I am always on the lookout for a fantastic dress. It has to be well structured, and I have to feel amazing wearing it. When I wear a killer dress, I feel like I’m on top of my A game, and ready to take on any challenge.

That being said, I am the type of girl who hangs onto a dress for years on end if it is the right one. I have some dresses that are almost 5 years old, that I still wear to this day. If I find the right one, I hang on to it for dear life and take great care of it.

  9. Tell us a music vice of yours. We all have them (mine is the occasional Disney track). Anything that you’d be slightly embarrassed to have us find on your iPOD?

  10. I think it’s so important to be unapologetic about your musical taste. It is so easy to get caught up in what’s “cool” and to try and fit in with everyone else. I say if you like an artist, stand by them and let the world know. I mean come on, how boring would it be if all of us liked the same music at any given time.

My friends and I love sing-alongs in the car to Britney Spears, The Backstreet Boys, and B4-4 (remember that gem of a band?).

  11. You’ve got some great demo vids in the running for MuchMusic VJ – did you encounter any awkward moments in approaching people for your filming?
  12. Honestly, all the people that I have interviewed have been excellent sports. Some of them may have been reluctant at first, because come on, how often do you have a camera zeroing in on your face. However, once we get talking, and I start to learn about their interests, they warm up to it.

If your interviewee trusts you, and realizes that you have their best interest in mind, they become a lot more open and generous with their answers. That’s when a lot of the funny and spontaneous moments happen!

  13. Think Ron Burgundy from Anchorman – if you were to have a sign off from your own segment, what would it be?
  14. From the land of music videos, celebrity oopsy daisies, and Joe Jonas, this is Vijaya Selvaraju reminding you to always want much more. *wink* Because that’s what we’ll give you Canada.
